Yarra Trams welcomes opportunity to bid for Melbourne tram tender

TransdevTSL (Yarra Trams) has been invited to bid for the tender to operate Melbourne’s tram network.

It is one of two companies on the shortlist announced today by Public Transport Minister Lynne Kosky.

The Chief Executive Officer of Yarra Trams, Mr Dennis Cliche has welcomed the inclusion of TransdevTSL on the shortlist to continue with the tender process.

Yarra Trams assumed responsibility for the operation of Melbourne’s entire tram network on 18 April 2004. In August 2008, the Victorian Government announced it had extended the Yarra Trams contract for a further 12 months until November 2009.

TransdevTSL (Yarra Trams) is a joint venture partnership between Australia’s Transfield Services Limited and Transdev, the world’s largest operator of tram and light rail services.
