History

On 29 August 1999, Transdev’s and Transfield Services’ MetroLink Victoria joint venture commenced the operation of Yarra Trams.

On 18 April 2004, Yarra Trams assumed responsibility for operating Melbourne’s entire tram network.

In November 2003, Brisbane City Council assigned Transdev’s and Transfield Services’ MetroLink Queensland joint venture a seven-year contract to operate and maintain Brisbane City Council’s CityCat and CityFerry services and associated infrastructure.

In August 2001, Transdev acquired Sydney’s Shorelink Bus Company in Sydney’s North Shore region. In 2004, the New South Wales Government divided Sydney into 15 contract regions. From June 2005, Shorelink was contracted to provide Route and School services in the Region 12 contract area.

In September 2006, Transfield Services and Transdev formed a joint venture called TransdevTSL to further align its ferry, tram and bus operations and to pursue further public transport opportunities in Australia and New Zealand.

In October 2009, Transdev and Transfield Services signed a cooperative agreement to pursue emerging public transport opportunities in the Middle East.

In November 2009, TransdevTSL officially handed over the Yarra Trams operation to the Vicotorian State Government after 10 years and many achievements.
