Johanna Marchand

Johanna Marchand, Business Development Coordinator

When did you start with Veolia Transdev, and in what job role?

I started as an intern in July 2009, working in the Business Development team.

Current job role and main responsibilities

I work as a Business Development Coordinator. My main responsibilities include researching new opportunities in the industrial market and supporting the Business Development team in pursuing these opportunities.

How did you get this role with Veolia?

After graduating with a Bachelor of Political Science from a Paris university, I decided I wanted to develop my Business knowledge and experience. I came to Australia to take a Masters degree in Commerce (majoring in International Business) at the University of Melbourne.

I have always been aware of Veolia activities in Europe and first came into contact with the organisation at a graduate career fair. Having a strong interest in sustainable development and city management, Veolia represented the best company to have my first work experience.

What’s your favourite bit of the job?

The best part of the job is being able to work on different projects all around the country with local and international transport experts.

What is your biggest challenge?

Every new project is a challenge as you need to adapt to local requirements and provide a new tailor-made solution to respond to the client’s challenges.

Your proudest moment since joining Veolia?

Being able to have a two hour conversation about double-decker buses with one of our Operational Managers in Perth and realising how much I had learned about the industry.

What do you like about working for Veolia?

Veolia puts lots of importance on social corporate responsibility and sustainable development which I think is crucial in today’s world. Also, working for Veolia allows you to access to a worldwide network of expertise and best practices in terms of research and innovation. As a big multinational organisation, Veolia also offers great careers opportunities around the world.
