I started with Veolia Transdev towards the end of 2009, in my current role, which is Payroll and Remuneration Analyst.
I am responsible for most of the HR activities and payroll for our head office in Melbourne. I manage all aspects of payroll from processing and financial reporting to the labour budget, tax and super. On the HR side, the role consists of managing new employee requirements, HR reporting, and managing employee benefits and the HR Budget.
I’ve always worked in HR-type roles, starting with a payroll job at a globally owned large organisation. I then spent some time at a law firm before moving to Cadbury Schweppes where I held a variety of roles, including Expatriate/Inpatriate HR Business Partner for the Asia Pacific region.
All of this was great experience for Veolia Transdev, which has a team of 3,000 employees in Australasia alone.
I love being able to help my work colleagues. I recently helped the team in WA assisting with visa applications and move to Australia for a mechanic from the UK.
I also really enjoy the autonomy of the role – every day is a new day.
My main challenge is finding more efficient ways of handling our HR reporting requirements.
The company offers great flexibility. As a mother of two, it’s really important for me to work for an organisation that values a work life balance and still provide opportunities to increase knowledge and improve skills.
My colleagues within the office and around the country are a nice and friendly bunch of individuals which also helps!
