Trains in Auckland

Veolia Transdev operates the Auckland commuter rail transport system on behalf of Auckland Transport.

Our team of over 420 people operates more than 1,950 services each week on the Eastern, Southern, Western and Onehunga lines.

Since taking over the rail operation in 2004, Veolia Transdev has seen significant improvements to the service. Patronage is growing rapidly, with growth of 14% in 2010 alone bringing annual passenger numbers to over 10 million. We are also delighted to have improved reliability, from 57.9% in August 2005 to an average of 80% in 2011.

We have a very strong focus on safety and have been working with Maori wardens to increase passenger safety and the security of our staff and trains. The wardens are volunteers from the Waitemata Maori Wardens Trust, a charitable trust that aims to reduce crime and promote the welfare of Maori.

We are committed to enhancing rail transport in Auckland and have introduced a successful ‘Meet our Managers’ program giving customers the chance to meet and speak with key people from our organisation.
